About Sam Rudd

I am a friendly, hardworking and intelligent individual. I have always been determined to work to the greatest of my ability. I can work independently, and I am also happy to play active role as part of a team. I have had a vast amount of experience working with disabled individuals and have some knowledge of different disabilities; mental and physical, demonstrated by my work at Calvert Trust Exmoor. Although I have not done this care work on a professional level, I feel I have the right qualities to succeed in this area of work. Since a young age, I have helped to look after my brother who has had many operations due to having cerebral palsy. I have helped with his physiotherapy, his often challenging behaviour as well as personal care. It was through him that I discovered the Calvert Trust. Shortly after I began to volunteer on a regular basis, I stayed there for four years. During my time there, I came across numerous disabilities and was often congratulated on my interaction with both the clients and the parents/carers. Although I have a lot to learn, I want to train in this area of work, I understand it will be challenging however I also expect it to be rewarding

“KONY 2012″ Taking Action

Since Cover the Night, The KONY 2012 support has gone though the roof, for people that didnt know about Invisible Children’s Mission to bring Joseph Kony to Justice they now stand educated by all the supporters and activists that are backing this huge campaign.

The Government are now listening and taking action. President Obama announced that he would extend the deployment of 100 advisory troops to the LRA-affected regions of Central Africa. He was speaking at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum this morning when he made the announcement.

It was just over six months ago that President Obama originally announced his decision to deploy 100 advisory troops to the region on a time-limited mission. These special forces advise regional militaries and aide in logistics and intelligence. These are not combat troops–though they are combat ready should they need to defend themselves. The extension of their deployment and President Obama’s public commitment to seeing an end to LRA violence is very encouraging.

“Remembrance without resolve is a hollow gesture. Awareness without action changes nothing…We are haunted by the atrocities we did not stop.”

Flux Pavilion “I Can’t Stop” was the perfect song at the end of KONY 2012. It was empowering, huge and full of energy. Flux Pavilion, a powerful force in the EDM community, just released another masterpiece that makes you feel like you’re dancing in slow-motion on a cloud. I guess it’s appropriately titled DAYDREAMER.

Flux and his producer Denis also had some amazing things to say about you all as the Invisible Children movement. Thanks for making this movement global and keeping it positive.

Actions speak louder than words…. BRING PEACE TO UGANDA

When does work become too much?

Its been a while since ive had a chance to even look at my blog, My work/home life hasn’t really been very balanced the last few weeks. I’ve pretty much finished my training for Leonard Cheshire Disability now, So im hoping i can resume some normality back to my life. Last weekend i worked 46 and a half hours with minimal sleep go-between, this just didn’t do any good for me at all as I so ill for the following few days afterwards, All work no sleep. Burning the candles from both ends…. Iv’e currently got 3 jobs and although one of them is occasional hours and i haven’t got many hours their at the moment what will happen when i do get more hours, my body will start to feel the toll. as it already has once before, It is very important to have a good life balance making sure you get time to socialise, eat see your family aswell as doing your job, but when you have one or more jobs that balance becomes very unstable and you end up feeling tired all the time because your sleeping or working….

Teamwork is very important

Teamwork is one of the most important qualities you could every have, Not only can you be more productive as a team but you can rely on and support each other. When i did my Prince’s Trust Course. I met a who range of people in the space of a week and during the second week I found myself in a position where I just had to work as a team to complete the tasks that had be set for the week. Even today the things I learnt on that course has helped me develop myself and utilise my self more effectively in and out of work situations.

There is no I in team When working in a team it is very important that you work at the same pace as you can burn yourself out. If you see one of your team members falling behind whether it be with paperwork or if your on a mountain climbing to the summit. By supporting each other though the harder times not only with you become better acquainted you will gain the trust and respect of the people in your group.

Team Building One of the best ways to kick start a team is to get involved or take part in Team Building activities whilst i was on Prince’s Trust Residential trip we had lots of team building tasks. One of my favourite ones was a task that had two of our team tied together by one are and a leg and both of them blind folded. The remaining team members then had to help them navigate to an item collect it and return safely. We weren’t allowed to move with them or touch them we could only use our voices.

Training and My New Job

Howdy Peeps, As you may know I’ve recently started my new job but before i can start working with the adults and people that ill be helping, I have to go though a large amount of training which is why i haven’t been very active on here as my busy work schedule has been very hard to fit me time into. I had Induction Training last week which was more of an overview about the Training that is due to follow. Today i finish a two day course on “Personal Centred Thinking” this course was very much what it says on the tin. How to centre a plan based on a persons individual needs and wants. I used a few tools on myself and found them very helpful for example, a One Page Profile Which you can find Here if you would like to take a look. these are very easy to understand. highlighting points about me as a person without to much detail or information. How you can support, The kinds of things I like doing and what other people Admire about me. For more information about creating your own One Page Profile’s Click Here. Peace Out Peeps
